Description

What is Tadalafil?

Tadalafil is a prescription medication used primarily to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Tadalafil improves blood flow to certain areas of the body, helping men achieve and maintain erections during sexual activity. It is also prescribed for treating symptoms of an enlarged prostate, such as difficulty urinating.

How Does Tadalafil Work?

Tadalafil belongs to a class of drugs called phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors, which work by relaxing muscles in the penis and increasing blood flow. It contains the active ingredient tadalafil citrate which when absorbed into the bloodstream, it travels to your penis, where it helps increase blood flow. This increased blood flow causes an erection. Tadalafil also relaxes the muscles in the pulmonary arteries, which can help improve blood flow in people with pulmonary arterial hypertension. It also works by relaxing the muscles in the prostate and bladder, which can help improve urine flow in men with benign hyperplasia.
