Thrush

Thrush, or candidiasis, is a fungal infection affecting the mouth or genital areas. Thrush, a common yeast infection caused by an overgrowth of Candida albicans, can cause discomfort and unease for women and men. While this yeast naturally resides in the bowel and vagina, an overgrowth can lead to symptoms such as itching, abnormal discharge, and pain while urinating or during intercourse. Further symptoms include white patches and, for men, redness around the head of the penis and under the foreskin. Treatment involves antifungal medications, maintaining good hygiene, and avoiding irritants to prevent recurrence.
