What is Priligy?

Priligy is a prescription medication designed to treat premature ejaculation in men. The active ingredient, dapoxetine, is a short-acting selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that helps increase the time it takes to ejaculate and improves control over ejaculation. It is effective when taken before sexual activity and provides temporary relief for those experiencing premature ejaculation. The drug treats premature ejaculation by reducing anxiety.

How Does it Work?

Dapoxetine works by increasing the activity of serotonin in the brain, a chemical that plays a key role in controlling ejaculation. This helps delay the ejaculation reflex, allowing men more control during sexual intercourse. Priligy is typically taken 1-3 hours before sexual activity and its effects can last up to 4 hours.

• You can use Priligy with erectile dysfunction drugs. Ensure you stay well hydrated when using this combination to prevent dizziness or fainting.

• Stop using Priligy and see your doctor immediately if you faint or feel lightheaded.
• Stop using Priligy and see your doctor immediately if you notice mood swings.
• Stop using Priligy and see your doctor immediately if you get suicidal thoughts or thoughts of harming yourself.
• Priligy interacts with some drugs. Read the leaflet that comes with it for complete information about medicine interactions and warnings.

Be sure to consult your medical provider and read the instructions before using Priligy.

• You should take one tablet 1, 3 hours before sex.
• Swallow the pill whole with a glass full of water.
• Never take more than one tablet of Priligy in 24 hours.
• Food does not affect Priligy.
• Alcohol causes sleepiness and dizziness. Avoid alcohol with Priligy for better erection and ejaculation duration.

Dapoxetine is the active ingredient in each Priligy Tablets. 

Inactive ingredients include microcrystalline cellulose, lactose monohydrate, croscarmellose sodium, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, lactose monohydrate titanium dioxide (E171), triacetin, Iron Oxide Black (E172), Iron Oxide Yellow (E172).

If you experience side effects from Priligy, they may include headache and dizziness. Priligy has a small risk of the following:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhoea
• Skin rash

1. How should I take Priligy?

Take one tablet 1-3 hours before anticipated sexual activity with a full glass of water. Do not take more than one tablet within 24 hours.

2. Can I drink alcohol while taking Priligy?

Alcohol should be avoided as it can increase the risk of side effects such as dizziness or fainting.

3. Is Priligy suitable for all men?

Priligy is not suitable for men with certain heart conditions, liver problems, or who take specific medications such as MAO inhibitors.

4. Can I take Priligy with other ED medications?

Caution is advised when combining with medications like sildenafil (Viagra) as this can increase the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor before combining medications.

5. How long do the effects last?

The effects of Priligy last for about 3 to 4 hours after taking the tablet.
