Viagra, with the active ingredient sildenafil citrate, is a prescription medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED). It helps men achieve and maintain an erection sufficient for sexual intercourse by increasing blood flow to the penis when sexually stimulated. How Does Viagra Work?

Viagra works by inhibiting an enzyme called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), which regulates blood flow in the penis. When sexually stimulated, this enzyme can limit the amount of blood that flows to the penis, making it difficult to achieve an erection. By blocking PDE5, sildenafil allows the blood vessels in the penis to remain dilated, increasing blood flow and making it easier to achieve and maintain an erection. How to use Viagra

Take medication with the gudiance of you healthcare provider and only after reading the instructions:

  • It is recommended that you take one Viagra tablet at least 1 hour before sex.
  • Viagra can take up to an hour to take effect in some men, although it can take effect in as little as 20 minutes in some men.
  • Viagra can produce an effect for up to 4 - 5 hours.
  • Do not take more than one tablet for erectile dysfunction within 24-hours.
  • Limit your food and alcohol intake before taking Viagra to ensure it remains effective.
Possible side effects

The main side effects of Viagra are:

  • Headache
  • Flushing (redness of the face and body)
  • Dizziness
  • Indigestion
  • Visual disturbances (blurred vision, sensitivity to light, or colour tinge)
  • Stuffy or runny nose
  • Back pain
  • Nausea

Serious but rare side effects may include sudden vision loss, hearing loss, chest pain, or a prolonged erection lasting more than 4 hours. If any of these occur, seek immediate medical attention.

Warnings and precautions

Viagra pills are not suitable for you if you suffer from these conditions:

  • Heart rhythm problems
  • You had a heart attack or stroke within the last six months
  • High or low blood pressure, liver or kidney disease
  • You are a hemophiliac
  • You suffer from sickle cell anemia or leukemia
  • You have a physical deformity of the penis
  • You suffer from retinitis pigmentosa
  • You have a stomach ulcer

Each tablet also contains microcrystalline cellulose, calcium hydrogen phosphate, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), lactose monohydrate, triacetin, indigo carmine aluminium lake (E132).
